Festival Phénomena 2013

PHENOMENAL OCTOBER
October will be a crazy amazing month, especially with Festival Phenomena in Montreal.  I am pleased to be presenting a multitude of projects for the festival.

1] I am ecstatic to announce the Quebec Premiere of the film SMILE STEALERS in collaboration with Festival du nouveau cinéma [FNC]. After 4 long years, the film will finally be played in MTL where it all began. And we are cooking up a big performance event at Sala Rosa le 18 octobre, for the opening night of the festival: Join the FB event for INFO.

2] Egotrip Productions will be premiering a brand new multimedia Sci-Fi shadow puppet show at Sala Rosa: Tout inclus sur la Planet Rouge.  Arthur Desmarteaux and I are pleased to be sharing the stage with good friends Jesse Or and Max Kelly, who will be performing their new show The More of Everything Revival Hour - Lundi 21 octobre [more info soooon!]

3] I am also creating the video projections for La Mythologie Expliquee, a special tableaux vivants performance at Bain Saint-Michel, created by artistic director D.Kimm. [18, 19, 20 october]

Cafe Concrete 12

Here is the poster I designed for Cafe Concrete 12 [a puppet cabaret event held in Montreal]

This last edition of Cafe Concrete was held at Casa de Popolo in Montreal, May 7, 2012.

I have lots of octopus arms in many projects now. Arthur Desmarteaux and myself recently created a puppet theatre company, Egotrip Productions. We started producing a series of short shadow puppet shows in Montreal for Cafe Concrete. Currently our main focus is an immense public art project for the City of Montreal. We are making a massive ceramic mosaic mural for the youth library in Point aux trembles. Please check out our blog, for updates on these exciting projects. EGOTRIP. SMILE STEALERS

I am making a film.

I am working in collaboration with Parlour Treats and Gut Strings to create an EPIC experimental short film, involving animation, projections, song and dance.

Smile Stealers is a short story about a girl who has a destiny to become a warrior. Her name is Tyr, like the Norse God of War. She battles the sky, saves a unicorn, escapes a Paper Moon photo booth trap and fights the Queen of a Moon and slays her children to set the smiles free. The children become stars in the sky.

Smile stealers combines analogue special effects and projections/animation with digital video and after effects animation. It will involve black and white silent film/video with transition to color, song and dance, analogue overhead projection, analogue and digital animations.
