Smile Stealers interview for NXNE!
Last week my pal, artist Jasa Baka and I got to sit down and talk with NXNE about our film Smile Stealers which will be premiering in Toronto next week!
Allison Moore and Jasa Baka, the two creative forces behind the experimental fantasy film Smile Stealers, sat down with NXNE to talk about the world premiere of the film. Four years in the making, their project is full of mind-boggling visual effects as a result of mixing overhead projection/animation with complex digital compositing. The art-house picture is about a girl with the destiny to become a warrior. Part mythology and part fantasy, it ends up as a strangely fantastic new breed of film production.
There’s also plenty to like on the music side – the cast is comprised of Canadian, Icelandic, and American talent from the bands Syngja, Angels in America and AIDS Wolf. Original soundtrack by The Winks.
Watch the filmmakers discuss their inspiration, their motivation, and what NXNE-goers should expect from the vintage-influenced, campy, surrealist flick. It’s being shown June 13th at the Gladstone Ballroom at 7 pm.

Smile Stealers
It is with great pleasure I can announce the film Smile Stealers is finally wrapped. The film was an extensive 3 year production that I directed, edited and made visual effects for.
WATCH THE TRAILER!
The film was made in collaboration with artist Jasa Baka, who wrote the script and made the production design, including creating all the amazing costumes featured in the film.
Smile Stealers is a live action, animated, independent short film made in Montreal, Canada. It tells the story of a girl who becomes a warrior. She saves the world from eternal despair. This movie is an experimental visual poem, a campy surrealist silent film era music video.

URBAN TERRARIUM at ART SOUTERRAIN 2013

URBAN TERRARIUM will be on display at the EATON's CENTRE in Montreal for Art Souterrain 2013, March 2 - 17. The exhibition will open the night of NUIT BLANCHE. Urban Terrarium is a video assemblage that combines photo-collage, hand-drawn animation, and filmed actors, to create an immersive videoscape of a fantastical metropolis. Based on cities I have visited and from my own imagination, the video panoramic allows viewers to get lost in a labyrinth of urban infrastructure.
OPENING HOURS: Monday - Friday: 9:30am - 7:00pm Saturday and Sunday: 10:00am - 7:00pm
URBAN TERRARIUM is located above the doors as you exit the mall into Metro Mcgill.
