Micropolis 2.0 - Open Studio Toronto

Micropolis 2.0 - Allison Moore & Arthur Desmarteaux.

Here is a little video documentation of an installation at Open Studio in Toronto. The exhibition is up from January 12 - February 18, 2012. Micropolis is an ever-expanding installation comprised of collaged screen and digital prints, assembled so they evoke a busy modern commercial street with pedestrians, creatures and vehicles passing by. The installation has an anthropological character inspired by the cityscapes of Québec City, Montréal and Toronto. A modular diorama of cardboard figures and shapes placed at different levels on wooden shelves, covering the perimeter of the gallery walls.
Printed by Allison Moore and Arthur Desmarteaux at Graff Print Studios [montreal], Open Studio [Toronto], and Engramme [Quebec City].

PsycheDADA

///September 16th - October 21, 2011 Opening Reception: September 16 at 8 PM

Psychedada brings together artists whose practices contend with the anomalies and oddities of chance at play in creative consciousness. Arthur Desmarteaux & Allison Moore (Montréal, QC), Larry Carlson (New York, NY) Arthur Desmarteaux and Allison Moore present brilliantly coloured and image dense serigraphs, prints, collages and puppet shows, creating a heady mix of Rabelaisian excess and underground comic trippyness. Carlson's videos are a high speed jump cut leap into a vertiginous Technicolour information overload, animated realizations of the mind bending juxtapositions of his collage work. Larry Carlson's website is here.

Psychedada is a collaborative curatorial project by Tod Emel (AKA) and David LaRivierre (PAVED Arts).

Residency at Engramme QUEBEC CITY

Diaries From Metropolis, Arthur Desmarteaux & Allison Moore [2010]
Artist Arthur Desmarteaux and I were recently invited for a 2 week residency at Engramme Print Studios in Quebec City. We got to stay right in the heart of the Artist community in the Centre Meduse which straddles the New and Old City. We had a Great experience meeting amazing people and got a lot of work done. 4 [22x30"] Prints and 2 [11x15"] in 10 days! I calculated I washed out 20 screens or so. Got the biceps to prove it. Big thank you to Félix LeBlanc and Diane Fournier at Engramme for all their help getting us set up. Also big thanks to Pierrette Tremblay, and a few of the volunteer members for last minute help to get our installation up! MERCI! Work in progress to prepare for exhibition next month in Calgary.
