Nuit Blanche - Montreal - Le temps du rêve

images: Allison Moore 2012

Here are a few photos from Le temps du rêve. Performed at ARPRIM in the Belgo building for Nuit Blanche - Montreal, 2012.

Project developed in residence at Megalo Print Studios, Canberra Australia [October-December 2011]

Urban Terrarium

Video Documentation of a new video installation created at Oboro New Media Labs in Montreal. Urban Terrarium is a video assemblage combining hand-drawn animation, photo collage and live-action video to create a panoramic videoscape of a fantastical metropolis. Based on cities I have visited and translated through my imagination, it is neither a past, present or future space but a hybrid world mashed up by mass media and globalization. I combine hand-drawn illustrations with cut-out textures from photo-imagery. These elements are composited together in After Effects to create a 3 screen wide video projection as one seamless animation. Habitants are lost in the details of the metropolitan resembling ants in their terrarium farm.

The final installation of Urban Terrarium was screened for the public as part of the Les journées de la culture event in Montreal on October 1, 2011.

Htmlles And Timber Jack

Timber Jack, the video game I produced as a commissioned work at Studio XX has been selected for presentation for the Htmlles Festival in November. Nearly two years after the project was initially started, I am now digging back into the archival blender files to re-hack some fix ups and add some new elements. Yesterday I animated a BEAR! I am working again with Blender aficionado Julien Beausejour who is dedicating some time to help me with the complicated programing of the game in Python script language. Here are some of the modeling pics from this week. I am drawing the bear today to load as texture to the model, and I have a Lady Lumberjack drawn out and water-colored for a secondary character to add. More updates soon..

Tyr receives the smile-Smile Stealers, Allison Moore 2010
I recently had a chance to screen the first 14 minutes of SMILE STEALERS. After a year of work with Jasa Baka, Gutstrings, and the Parlour Treats crew. it was nice to finally see the film come alive in the projection. A succesful night that invited active members of studio Graff to show the video art.
STAY TUNED FOR MORE SMILES TO COME!
Thank you all for coming!

SMILE STEALERS

I am making a film.
I am working in collaboration with Parlour Treats and Gut Strings to create an EPIC experimental short film, involving animation, projections, song and dance.

Smile Stealers is a short story about a girl who has a destiny to become a warrior. Her name is Tyr, like the Norse God of War. She battles the sky, saves a unicorn, escapes a Paper Moon photo booth trap and fights the Queen of a Moon and slays her children to set the smiles free. The children become stars in the sky.

Smile stealers combines analogue special effects and projections/animation with digital video and after effects animation. It will involve black and white silent film/video with transition to color, song and dance, analogue overhead projection, analogue and digital animations.
